Earlier today, President Multiman155 caused a stir in the #politics channel after dismissing his now-former acting Attorney General, AmityBlamity, a WPR Associate.

Despite being part of the Administration, Amity had only been serving as acting Attorney General prior to the dismissal. She came under fire this week for dropping a case against Representative FloofyLunaFox (WPR), who allegedly threw a pancake bearing a WPR campaign slogan at a person standing near the polling booths on election day.

The Reveille Times asked now-former Attorney General AmityBlamity whether she was the one who dismissed the case against Rep. FloofyLunaFox, and why:

“In full honesty, I had previously indicated to Multi I wasn’t sure I could serve out the full 14 days, BUT when he was unsure about who would replace me, I said I’d stick it out. But otherwise, I have no idea why I was removed from the role 2 days early.”

Without a public statement in #government-announcements, the President appointed zLost as acting Attorney General. zLost immediately reopened the case against the Opposition Representative.

The Reveille Times also reached out to the President, who told us:

“We’re at a place where I was going to need to appoint a new acting AG soon, given timeline limits on acting AGs and how Senate still needs to get its presiding officers and standing orders. We’ll be nominating our permanent AG when they get that all done, but that’ll be after Amity’s term was to expire. I think zLost is the right person to keep the ship steady in the meantime, given his long history as a litigator and him having become more available in recent days with an optimistic outlook ahead. “

— Multiman155, President

President Multiman also distanced himself from the decision to continue prosecution of the case against Representative FloofyLunaFox and Aventura, saying “he has discretion as acting AG to make them on his own.

The Reveille Times reached out to now former Attorney General AmityBlamity for comment on why the decision was taken to dismiss the case against Rep. FloofyLunaFox:

“I was. There were several factors, but the primary one was that the case, which had not so much as entered discovery, was being actively used as a “political attack opportunity” by very public figures. Floofy is afforded the same rights as all Redmontian citizens, namely a fair trial and a presumption of innocence. It is up to the Courts to judge the evidence and render a verdict, something which I believe is impossible to do in an impartial manner if the defendant’s name is being publicly tainted. It is the same philosophy I held as a Judge and Magistrate, and one I continue to hold now. We either prosecute people the right way, or we don’t do it at all.”

The situation raises questions on both sides, whereas Amity’s dismissal of the case, made while affiliated with the defendant’s party, invites scrutiny of her impartiality. But the President’s decision to remove them without public notice, resulting in the immediate reopening of a case against the Opposition, invites scrutiny of his.

Following the Administration’s actions, staff at the Department of Justice announced they had unionised. NovaKerbal, a leader of the new union, told The Reveille Times:

“We are unionizing because we feel dissatisfied with the state of the Attorney Generals Office, specifically we dislike how heavy handed the Multiman admin has been with appointing and removing them, and focusing more on loyalty rather than merit. We originally formed when we received rumours multiman was planning to appoint himself acting AG[, and] we have been sitting silently until recently the Zlost incidient made it necessary to act.”

— NovaKerbal, leader of the DOJ’s union

The Reveille Times has not independently verified the claim that the President considered appointing himself acting Attorney General. Multiman155 was not asked about the claim during his comments to this publication, which were given before the union’s statement.

The Reveille Times will follow this story as it develops.
