On April 12th and 13th, voters across Redmont flocked to the polls, electing Raz0Baz0 as Senator. This came at a relatively quiet time in the Commonwealth, with very little attention dedicated to this relatively routine election. No major political figure had issued endorsements, no speeches had been made, and campaigning had been limited to chat ads and discord posters. Regardless, the outcome of this special election indicates shifting political winds in a complacent Commonwealth.
The contested Senate seat was previously held by Ryland Wethersbee, a Workers’ Party of Redmont member and former Deputy Senate President, who was elected in January of 2026. After becoming inactive, he was removed from the Senate on April 9th in a 4-0 vote. This opened a Class A Senate seat, incurring the opening of a special election on the same day.
Candidacy declarations began on April 9th and ran until April 11th at 5:00 PM (EST). All in all, nine candidates were declared and only seven were approved. These included thewrench01 (WPR), DrThunder7 (IND), Fletchingrs (LAB), preland (IND), Raz0Baz0 (TE), rotcepsnl (TFC), and YourLocalDiabeto (IND).
These candidates spanned a wide range of political parties and ideologies, from the established Workers’ Party of Redmont to the newly formed Labour Party. Interestingly, this election was the first to hold a Bedrock/Xbox edition player, thewrench01, running under WPR endorsement.
Ultimately, after multiple rounds of single-transferable voting and many eliminations, Raz0Baz0 was able to win the election and defeat the leading WPR having only received 19 first-preference votes.
Raz0Baz0’s statement following his win:
“I was surprised by my senate win, in all honesty I did not expect it whatsoever. When I got on my computer after having been away all day, I saw a notification on the bottom right of my screen saying the results had been announced. The news that I had won, and with less first preference votes was a complete shock to me, but I was entirely thankful. In general, my feelings on my win are shock at the fact I pulled it off and thankfulness towards everyone who made this happen.
With my new position in the senate, I hope to enact all the goals The Evergreens wishes to achieve, and start a new era for Redmont. An Evergreen era. “
Despite the relatively large number of candidates in the election, the campaigns were surprisingly quiet. Only three of the candidates actively campaigned for themselves, whether on Discord or the server itself. There was a distinct lack of enthusiasm for this election, despite the crowded pool and importance of the Senate seat.
The election of an Evergreen member, however, meant no party currently holds a majority (or even plurality) in the House of Representatives or Senate. By losing this seat, the WPR has also lost control over Congress and the ability to push for a legislative agenda. Even with strong Executive and Judicial control, the WPR will be forced to form a larger coalition to pass any legislative agenda, threatening their ability to govern until the next election.
The Reveille Times was able to interview rotcepsnl and Raz0Baz0, two contestants for the WPR seat. Both candidates have voiced their belief for change in the government, albeit to different levels.
The outcome of this election shows how the WPR holds a tenuous control over government. They are clearly still popular with a majority of Redmontians, however, it is clear their position is not safe nor guaranteed. With another special election in the House of Representatives, Senate elections in May and the presidential election in June, the current state of Redmontians politics may greatly shift in the next few months.
