Amongst the vast array of different fundraisers on GnomeFundMe, one stands out from the rest. With a title reading “Operating Hotel / with real-time restaurant” it’s easy to miss, but a deeper look reveals an incredible story that is now opening a new chapter in DemocracyCraft. TaechiMTEA, a relatively new player on the server, inspired by the opportunity and freedom DemocracyCraft offers, aspires to recreate his father’s business in the game, honoring it eternally on the server. In pursuit of this goal, he opened a GnomeFundMe to raise funds to make it happen. I recently interviewed TaechiMTEA, and this is what he had to say about it all.

Q: How has your father’s restaurant/hotel impacted your life?
A: “My father got scammed by his own sibling out of a property that he received from his parents … [before he was] betrayed by one of his brothers [who] tried [falsely] suing him for [forging] the signature in a legal contract. He eventually got [the property] back, then spent his life savings on the hotel, which he designed to have the best-looking rooms from the inside.”
Q: What was the process behind deciding to recreate the business on DemocracyCraft?
A: “I am quite new to DemocracyCraft, [and] was so inspired by everyone having their own creation [in] the digital world. I decided I wanted to build something that means something to me, and I hope [it] will spread happiness for everyone involved.”
Q: Can you give us an insight into the future plans of the building?
A: “I plan to create job opportunities for new players by offering positions like receptionists, waitresses or other roles to bring this project to life. I don’t want to develop a place to stay, but an experience on the server that will be fun to join. The restaurant will be on the first floor with food, cooked not in advance but whenever you order.”
With 11 days left in his GnomeFundMe (as of 15/6/26), TaechiMTEA still needs around $9000 to reach his funding goal of $10,000. As he continues to work towards eternalizing his family’s business, one thing’s for sure; he’s truly determined to succeed.
